Tephra, above all else, is a steampunk world. Its technologies are often grounded upon Victorian principles, but the scientists of Tephra have taken things further. Much, much further.

Airships

The sky is filled with airships, from the simple, mercantile ones to the enormous ironclad stormships of the Paldoran raiders. While many airships use helium- or hydrogen-filled envelopes to give them lighter-than-air lift, many today also use graviton spheres. Graviton spheres, small pieces of ore composed of incalculably density, fight against gravity when they are rotated. A few fist-sized graviton spheres can give an entire airship lift, letting it defy gravity like nothing else can. With the combination of technologies, airships have become not just common in the world of Tephra, but are relied on in many facets of life and industry.

Automata

Automatons have walked along-side tephrans for over a century, but the recent advances in automaton technology has made them altogether much more common. Hulking, steam-powered automatons are controlled from remotes and powered by advanced aetheric engines. The leaner fuseboxes – electric-powered automatons – think on their own, processing their surroundings through the use of their analytic engines. And the clockwork automatons, complex machinations powered through basic clockwork principles, respond to their environment with pre-built reflexes.

Bio-Flux

Many consider the science of bio-flux to be a new field of study, but it’s roots are ancient. Satyrs were created from bio-flux, and the elf-to-farishtaa transformation is a form of bio-flux. Today, people have learned to manipulate essence, and, though bio-flux is often illegal, many people have taken to changing themselves, mutating their features or improving their bodies in subtle ways.
