About Cracked Monocle:

Cracked Monocle is a steampunk company working to put its own spin on the genre. We’re currently writing our first pen-and-paper roleplaying system, Tephra, and numerous expansion books to go along with it. You’ll often find us on our forums at CrackedMonocle.com, heading out toward anime and gaming conventions in central Texas, and doing everything we can to push the steampunk genre. We love to roleplay and we love to create (be it in our head, on paper, or in the form of solid objects), and Cracked Monocle is the collision of those ideals.

Company Doctrine

First and Forevermore, Steampunk
Before we are a gaming company, before we are a fantasy company, we are a steampunk company. We support the development of the steampunk genre and hope to spread it. Though we are confident that our products would work in any genre, we develop everything to fit into the steampunk frame of mind. It is our niche, and we excel in it.

Critical Support for All Tabletop RPGs
The tabletop roleplaying game community is alive, but not thriving. Video games and online games have increased the amount of games being played in the world, but the tabletop industry is losing ground. We will expand the market for all RPG companies, offering honest and critical support for them and driving the industry to have higher standards of performance.

Confidence without Cockiness
We know that we are the best because we work hard to be the best, and if we’re not the best right now, we will be. We’re not here to make other people feel worse about what they do, but we know that we’re doing things right. It’s not cockiness. It’s confidence.

Innovation through Excitement
We build an excited community through having excited developers doing excited things. All of this excitement leads to people throwing around ideas and trying different things. Excitement breeds innovation, and our strong community support will give us that innovation we need to keep our mind’s sharp.

Growth so Fast Nobody can Keep Up
The only way to keep the excitement up is to have a constant stream of growth. We’re here to excel, to keep people interested, and to constantly move forward. Every time we show our faces in public, our company will be better. There will be no stagnation. If our developers can’t keep up with one another, that’s the goal: growth so fast that nobody can keep up, even ourselves. A little chaos keeps everyone on their toes.
